Training is conducted in small groups within the waters of Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro (Adriatic), and Turkey (Marmaris, Fethiye). The IYT Bareboat Skipper and VHF Operator international license grants you the right to independently skipper charter yachts in the waters of Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

How Training Works
Theory
The theoretical training is divided into two stages. The first stage is conducted remotely and includes online materials, webinars, consultations, and yacht simulator practice. The second stage involves in-person theoretical sessions conducted during the practical sailing course.
Practical Training
A six-day course focused on mastering the handling of a cruising yacht. This includes 48 hours of combined practical and theoretical instruction, covering docking techniques, sailing and motor yacht handling, anchoring, short passage planning, and man-overboard procedures.
Certification
Certificates are issued on the final day of the course after successful completion of the exams in theory, VHF communication, and yacht handling. The IYT Bareboat Skipper Sail certificate grants you the right to skipper sailing and motor yachts up to 20 meters in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

Our simulator allows you to master the docking procedure in a realistically recreated Italian marina under various weather conditions, both under power and sail. While it won't teach you to "feel the boat," it will help you understand the nuances of what happens during docking. No crew is needed, so you can practice without fear of damaging a real yacht.
Our simulator allows you to master the docking procedure in a realistically recreated Italian marina under various weather conditions, both under power and sail. While it won't teach you to "feel the boat," it will help you understand the nuances of what happens during docking. No crew is needed, so you can practice without fear of damaging a real yacht.
The training scenarios include "Departing from the Dock Stern-to/Bow-to," "Stern-to/Bow-to Docking," "Docking in Strong Winds," and more. Each scenario guides the process, and at the end of the exercise, you will receive your performance evaluation and a cost calculation—as if from a charter company—of the repairs needed after your training session.
The simulator offers basic control of the helm and engine and the sails—you can even sail under wind power! Unfortunately, there's no spray or wind included, but you can always ask someone nearby to splash water on you and turn on a fan 😉. The simulator also includes not only a standard autopilot but an "Auto-Crew" feature that automatically adjusts the sails for you, so you can observe how it achieves maximum speed.

This course is considered a basic course for acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary for yacht navigation and the right to independently skipper sailing yachts. The IYT Bareboat Skipper Sail & SRC Operator (VHF Operator) international amateur license is recognized worldwide and allows you to charter yachts in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

During an intensive week of hands-on training with experienced instructors, you will learn how to handle a vessel and manage the crew, plan passages, read charts, and predict the weather. You will also master safe navigation practices, radio communication, maritime etiquette, and more.
