Denis Philippov is a seasoned yacht captain and instructor with over 20 years of nautical experience, specializing in both theoretical and practical training on mono and multi-hull vessels. He holds multiple high-level certifications, including the IYT/MCA Master of Yachts 200GT (Offshore) and IYMCS Instructor. Denis is committed to the highest standards of maritime education and safety.
Sailing Experience

• 1982-2002: Sailed within the inland waters on 30ft monohull and 20ft multihull boats.
• 2009-2022: Owner and skipper of a 35ft Fountaine Pajot Tobago catamaran, sailing the Eastern and Central Mediterranean Sea.
• 2012-Present: Master for the delivery of catamarans ranging from 40 to 52ft, predominantly between France/Spain and Turkey.
• 2011-Present: Chartering of catamarans, sizes between 38 to 58ft, in locations such as the Mediterranean, Norway, Canary Islands, and the Caribbean.
• 2010-Present: Chartering of monohulls ranging between 33 to 72ft in the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, and Azores.

Professional Background
Denis Filippov was born on July 31, 1977. He graduated from the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum "Second School" and later studied at the Faculty of Physics, and then at the Faculty of Geography, at Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Denis spent a significant amount of time working in the IT sector (communication systems) but later founded a motorcycle rescue service called motoSPAS, which eventually led him to join the Red Cross Rescue Service. In 2009, he made a life-changing decision to pursue a career at sea.

Denis started sailing over forty years ago and gained extensive experience on various sailing yachts. Since the end of 2009, he and his wife Galina have been living and traveling full-time on their catamaran, "BARBOS." With over 90,000 nautical miles under his belt in various weather conditions, Denis is one of the leading experts in catamaran operation.

Based on his personal experience, he developed a course on catamaran management, which he now teaches at Seacharter Sailing School.

Denis is also the author of a popular video tutorial for beginner captains, which is used as part of the training course in the school.

At Seacharter, Denis instructs up to the level of IYT Yachtmaster Offshore.
