Alexey Nikulin was born in 1958 into a military family. Beginning his adult life as a truck driver, he later graduated from the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction Institute and explored various careers, including military service, detective work, entrepreneurship, and journalism.
Alexey is a man of many passions, and his life has always been filled with a wide array of interests—hockey, sambo, water polo, tennis, music, and even drawing. But his greatest childhood fascination has always been the sea, sailing, and adventure, along with history and its mysteries.
This passion is not surprising, given that the winds of distant travels blew in from the books of Valentin Pikul and Jack London, which have always been a source of inspiration and romance for Alexey. His childhood dream of becoming a captain eventually came true—he became a yachtsman and traveler, one of the founders of the Seacharter Sailing School, and has sailed nearly 40,000 miles.
For many, the dream is to do what they love and, ideally, to turn that passion into a profession. It seems Alexey has fulfilled this dream—he is both a traveler and a television journalist, the author and host of the popular historical adventure series "Russian Trace" on the "My Planet" TV channel.
Alexey is not only a co-founder of Seacharter but also an active instructor at the school and an organizer of thematic sailing voyages and expeditions. Everyone who has sailed with him acknowledges him not only as an experienced sailor but also as a captivating storyteller.
At the contacts below you can consult or ask Alexey a question. We are always happy to help anyone who is taking their first steps in yachting.
