Yury Kairo is the embodiment of 5-star training and service for our students.With sailing experience on the Baltic Sea since 1977 and as a professional captain since 1984, Yury provides the essential practice and theoretical knowledge needed for relaxed sailing in the Mediterranean, as well as the confidence to handle less friendly circumstances. Yes, indeed, the theoretical part will save your time, money, and, quite literally, your skin.
Yury has extensive teaching experience within the IYT program, having trained over 24 groups. If he were teaching in the Russian system, he would already be considered a "distinguished educator." This experience allows him to tailor his training to the needs and skill levels of any group.
Yury’s expertise extends well beyond 2010 when he served under the true English gentlemen. So, anyone who boards his yacht has a chance to feel under the care of a modern-day Wooster.
For the record:- Circumnavigated Europe twice—and those were Soviet yachts;
- Tackled the Bosporus in the early 90s without an engine;
- Taught young pioneers at "Artek," though that was long ago;
- His proudest moment was participating in the "Baltic Cup" in 1983 (about 1,000 miles);
- Knows more than 43 knots, though you’ll only need seven.
